Due to huge and rapid development activities in the province of Punjab, a need was felt to have a full fledged surveying outfit. This demand became a driving force in raising Directorate of Eastern Circle in 1994. It comprises two field units and the operational area includes Punjab and part of Azad Jammu & Kashmir. The directorate is equipped with the latest surveying equipment to meet departmental and extra departmental survey requirements, as and when assigned. It specializes in preparation of large scale surveying and GIS data necessary for various soicio-ecomic planning and development. The Directorate is also responsible to observe and manage international border between Pakistan and India.
